Please bring drink bottle and wear comfortable sports clothing and shoes. In summer, please remind kids to wear a hat and apply sunscreen.
What age can my child start tennis?
Your child can start tennis as soon as 3 years old. Our programs designed for younger students go for 30mins.
Does my child need to bring a racquet?
They won’t need to bring racquets for their first lesson, we are happy to let them borrow our racquets, however we do encourage kids to get their own racquets. A joining fee of $35 will occur for kids (3-12) which includes a racquet and T Shirt. If you are outside that age bracket, please let us know and we will assist you with purchasing a new racquet.
Can I enroll after the term has started?
Yes you can. Please fill out our online enrolment form. After joining you will be invoices for the remainder of the term.
What is my role as a parent?
We encourage all parents to watch and support their child play tennis. However, we also encourage parents to give kids some space and not to interfere when the coaches are teaching. This will allow the students to focus and think for themselves on the tennis court.
How do I know what class is best for my child?
Here at DHA Tennis Academy we follow a pathway for kids to go through to make sure they are always in the correct class for their age and skill level. Coaches will constantly track their development and will contact you if they feel like it’s time for the student to progress to another class.
Please check out our programs pathway.
Is there any tournaments and competitions?
Yes there is a range of tournaments and competitions which are held at our venues but also at other venues too. We also have a pathway for tournaments and competitions as well. Our aim is to develop and train kids in a way which allows them to transition into playing tournaments and competition as soon as possible. Coaches will contact you when they feel your child is ready.
Where are lessons held?
We currently run lessons at St Albans East Tennis Club and also Albion Tennis Club.
Does your programs run over school and public holidays?
We run our programs according to the Victorian School terms. Over the holidays we also run school holiday clinics which are designed for students to play with others with similar age and abilities. There will be no classes running on a public holiday unless your coach organizes it with you directly in advanced.
Why my child should enroll in our tennis programs?
Here at DHA Tennis Academy we have a team of coaches that are very passionate about teaching tennis.
Our goals, in addition to teaching your child skills in tennis, are to also instill in them important life skills such as focus, discipline and hard work which according to studies are critical for achieving goals and success in life. Through playing tennis children will learn to respond to adversity, adapt to
different situations and deal with stress.
